Chamber Members To Meet Orono Trustees
Seventeen Orono Chamber of Commerce members met at Miller's Restaurant for the monthly session. Discussions covered parking, village and planning entrances, road and sidewalk jurisdiction, and an underpass proposal. A future meeting with the Orono Police Trustees and a directors meeting around August 18 to prepare for the Street Carnival were planned. The treasurer reported a bank balance of $667.92.

Trustees of the Little Charitable Foundation failed to secure a dentist for Orono Medical Centre after negotiations with a dentist who planned to locate there. The dentist has since moved to another centre.

Orono Cub and Scout Camp At Presquille Park
Thirty one Cubs and five Scouts with leaders traveled to Presquille Provincial Park Friday afternoon for a two day camp. The Orono group occupied the camp grounds alone and filled the time with camping chores cooking swimming hiking and a visit to a nature museum. They broke camp Sunday afternoon with Mr Russell Major Mr Jack Garden Mr J Eastabrooke Mr Paul Greenveld and Mr Robin Taggart part of the group. An outing is being considered for late August.

Water Project Nearing Completion
Air projects on the Orono Municipal Water System are nearing completion. Most work should finish within two weeks, with the tank interior being painted and disinfected. Pressure tests on water mains are holding, pump house work advances, and final road repairs begin pending three proposed system additions awaiting C W R C and Municipal Board approval.

Dairy Princess Night In Newcastle Arena
A gala event in Newcastle Arena selects the Dairy Princess for Northumberland and Durham Counties. July 15 at 7:00 p.m. includes free milk, cheese and milk token draws, talks on the dairy industry, and milking demonstrations. Winners advance to the Canadian National Exhibition.
