The W A of Orono United Church held its February meeting on February 9 in the Sunday School room with Mrs H Allen presiding. Mrs L King led devotional remarks and Scripture from Acts 4 5 20 was read. The talk titled The Owner's Stamp followed by The Bridge Builder poem and Oh Jesus I have promised hymn closed the session. Arrangements were made for a Co op turkey banquet on March 7 and a banquet for High School Graduates and families on March 8. A new organization The United Church Women will be formed and a meeting with Rev Long set for February 21 to study it.

Orono A A Holds Family Skating Night This Saturday
The Orono Amateur Athletic Association invites residents to a family skating party at the Orono rink this Saturday. A full evening of skating will be offered and the Orono Band is expected to provide music. Proceeds support the winter sport program and rink operations.

Edith E Bennett died Saturday February 11 at Memorial Hospital Bowmanville after a lengthy illness. Born on a farm in Carke Township she was 67 and daughter of the late William Henry Bennett and Matilda Pryor Bennett. Survived by two brothers William J Bennett and Benjamin Bennett both of RR 4 Bowmanville. Rested at Morris Funeral Chapel Bowmanville service February 14 at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev W K Houslander interment Bowmanville Cemetery.

Holstein Breeders Meet At Port Hope Farm
The Durham County Holstein Club held a barn meeting at Donald Budd’s Port Hope farm on a Saturday in February.
