Woman's Missionary Society Meeting Hears Algola Talk
The February meeting at Park Street Church, led by President Mrs. M. H. Staples, appointed Oshawa Presbyterial delegates Mrs. F. Blackburn and Mrs. F. Kelly. Mrs. Littlewood spoke on Church Algola Africa, noting Dr. Currie’s 60 years since the first mission entry and Algola's 115000 members. The session closed with Mizpah Benediction.

Park Street United Church Skating Party in Whitby
On Tuesday evening February 5 Park Street United Church youths traveled to Whitby for a skating party sponsored by Oshawa Presbytery. They skated, enjoyed a sing song led by Miss Glenna Wilson, had soup and crackers, sang Blest Be the Tie That Binds, and returned home safely with a good time reported by all.

Orono Midgets Fall to Cobourg 8 3 in Hockey Clash
On Friday February 7 the Orono Midgets were defeated by the Cobourg Midgets 8 to 3. Cobourg led 2 1 after two periods as Dean West scored twice for Orono, but Cobourg surged in the third with six goals. Goalie Brunt and defenders O Boyle and Found were noted, while Cobourg’s Hes sen led the offense with three goals. The junior game between Orono and Cobourg Juveniles ended with disputed calls and a Cobourg goalie injury delaying play.

Percy Cooper longtime General Motors of Canada foreman in the Wheel Paint and Tire Assembly Group resigned to start a service station business. He was guest of honor at a chicken dinner in the Hotel Genosha Blue Room with 26 attendees. Presents included a Sheaffer set and wallet. a book-shaped address of regret read by Earl Hoy. No Sugar Price Rise In Canada Despite US increases
Wartime Prices and Trade Board says Canadian sugar prices will stay put and any higher costs will be covered by the Sugar Stabilization Fund. Lower insurance and ocean freights in 1946 may offset raw sugar costs, yielding a net fund loss of about 30 cents per 100 pounds. Beet sugar payments rise by 60 cents per ten pounds, boosting beet growers’ returns by around 41.50 dollars per ten.
