Clarke Township Council Approves Water Project Proceeding
The Clarke Township Council held its final 1967 meeting on Friday December 14 with delegations and several actions. Officials referred ditching and new road matters to the road superintendent for investigation and report. They appointed W H Carman to the Durham District High School Board and Robert Chater to the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority. Tenders opened for an arch culvert, Ontario Culvert won at 2600 dollars. The council supported Crono Village water vote and moved to finalize an Ontario Water Resources Commission agreement with the Orono Police Trustees awaiting by law steps. Meeting adjourned to January 8.

Ontario motorists rush to buy 1963 licence plates as white on black plates go on sale December 10. The Department of Transport moved the issuing date three weeks earlier to ease purchases with licenses valid through March 13 1963 for new plates and March 31 1964 for 1963 commercial plates.

Clarke High School Dance Draws Large Crowd From Orono
The first annual Clarke High School Christmas Dance drew about 175 couples to the school auditorium last Friday evening. The Wonderland by Night theme featured red and green streamers and a central tinsel fountain with a wishing well. Proceeds fund UNICEF. Music was provided by George Braund of Toronto.

Twin Christmas Trees Adorn Queen's Park From Kinmount
Two 60 ft trees from Kinmount near Lindsay were hauled by J. Austin & Sons to Toronto and decorated with hundreds of lights for Queen's Park. Each tree weighed about two tons and required police escorts due to a 14 foot load width.

Sunday School Christmas Pageant Presented at United Church
The annual Sunday School Christmas Pageant titled The Four Paths to Bethlehem was performed by school children at the United Church on Saturday evening with about 150 parents and the whole Sunday School in attendance. The event featured a choral background, multiple solos, and narration by Mr Len Pears with Rev B Lang as master of ceremonies.

Harold Cobbledick was re elected to a three year term as trustee of the 8.8. 12 School section at the annual meeting attended by fifteen ratepayers. The report notes renovations, heating work, new staff including H Dyke as principal and teachers Miss Barbara Ann Alldred and Miss Jean Pambberton with Mrs Stella Morton teaching music half a day weekly. Christmas Rush Ends at Grono Post Office
Post office staff increased during the pre Christmas rush to handle mail. Grono villagers Charles Webber, W. Wilson, and H. Murray sorted and distributed the mail. About 389000 Christmas cards were mailed from Orono. 89606 five cent stamps and 8000 five cent stamps were purchased. The heaviest mail arrived last week, with Thursday the peak day. Office returns to normal tempo for the next fifty weeks.
