The Orono Junior Gardeners held a Christmas meeting on December 12 with a lunch for the children and a program led by Mrs Fairbrother. Ron Brooks and Ross Jackman judged 76 Christmas entries while awards were given for decorations and crafts. The Oshawa Ski Club has close to 1800 members so far this year with many observing activities at the hill this weekend. Several members tested the slopes last weekend with some tow operations in use.
This weekend at least five tows will operate from the sewer with hills greeted as fair. Some trails remain unusable until more snow falls. The Clu plans to run tows during the two holiday weeks if weather and patronage permit. No skiing Christmas Day but activities resume New Years Day. Four inches of new snow fell midweek improving Oshawa ski hills conditions.
