Saint Nick Parade Set for Orono This Saturday
The Orono Chamber of Commerce hosts a Santa Claus parade in Orono this Saturday December 17 starting just before two oclock from the south end marching up Main Street to the Municipal Building. The Orono Band leads the procession with about seventeen floats including public school entries and three prize awards for best float. Santa will give each child a goodie bag at the parade end.

The Orono Amateur Athletic Association starts rink operations with Mr. Wm. Hooey in charge. Three minor hockey clubs for boys ages seven to fifteen may form, a Junior Club is possible, and the Figure Skating Club will operate. Public skating will be scheduled for all residents this winter.

Royal Bank of Canada chief Walter dies at 63
Walter, chairman and president of the Royal Bank of Canada and a native of Orono Ontario, died after a month long illness at 63. He joined the bank in 1912 at Oshawa and rose to top executive eight months ago after James Muir’s death. Funeral held at Dominion Douglas Church Westmount with burial in Ste Agathe. He was survived by his wife, a daughter, and four grandchildren.

Celebration of Almont Bullock 25th Wedding Anniversary
On Saturday evening December 3 the home of Mr and Mrs Almont Bullock hosted a surprise 25th wedding anniversary celebration arranged by their three daughters. About 75 friends relatives and neighbours attended from Lakefield Warsail Peterborough Toronto and Stratford. The couple received a Trilight Lamp silver cream and sugar set a silver chest and a flower arrangement plus other gifts. Tea and lunch were served and attendants from twenty five years ago joined the festivities.
