Kendal Students Receive Clarke High Awards at Commencement
Kendal students earned several honors at Clarke High School ceremonies. Linda Greenwood received The Orono Weekly Times Award for English proficiency and the Senior Girl Championship Award at Field Day 1965-66. she plans to attend Peterborough Teachers' College. Shirley Mercer won the Gregg Book-Keeping Award and Dorothy Mercer the Underwood Typewriting Speech and Accuracy Award. Kathy Turansky helped present as Past President of the Students' Council. A funeral for Mr. George Wilson attracted Kendal area mourners on Saturday, November 26, while Mr. Wm. Laird of Maple Grove died recently with services held May 29 at Kendal Church. Miss Faye Barkwell wed Mr. Richard Foster at Kendal United Church on November 26 with Attendants Cecile Barkwell and Cheryl Vernon. Mrs. Lang sang, and guests included relatives from Jarvis and St. Catherines. The Foster anniversary was noted along with other local visits as well as well-diggers drilling for water on the Sixth Line.
