Orono village reports hydro finances and road plan

Officials discuss Orono finances with Bruce Mercer declining candidacy while Roy Forester and MM Simpson note hydro capital at 121095 with 7000 surplus. Road and storm sewer program outlined including Duchess Street upgrades, lighting, dump, library takeover, and water system extensions. Estimated road program cost 108000 with local ratepayer impact about 38000.

Clarke Township Teachers Association Meeting at Lockhart School

The Clarke Township Teachers Association held a December meeting at Lockhart School with Public School Inspector Mr Holmes and ten Toronto Teachers College student teachers present. Mr Holmes spoke on standardized tests while Mr Moffat reported on the Childhood Education conference in Scarborough. Committees were appointed and a December banquet for board members and spouses was planned along with a social evening. All teachers were to consider a 4 Centennial Project as the meeting adjourned.
