A 150 foot radio antenna mast was erected at Presquile Provincial Park in Lindsay District. The tower between the Park Office and the lake connects Presquile with Lindsay District office and local nurseries and forests. Mobile units within 10 to 35 miles can contact directly, and all Lands and Forests installations are reachable via the Lindsay Communications Centre. The system may soon link with fire suppression agencies worldwide.

Orono Fire Department answered a Monday evening alarm at the barn of Mr. G Knox on Mill Street. Investigators found a large compressor powering a cold storage plant over heated and smoking, filling the barn with smoke but causing no other damage. Knox stored mink meat at the plant.
