Henry Alfred Hunter long time East Carafarma native died at Annette Street Toronto on September 1 after an extended illness. He was born on The Maples, educated there and at Orangeville High School and Ontario Agricultural College. He farmed at The Maples then ranched in Alberta before returning to Ontario, married Grace Gentle, lived in Georgetown, and settled in Toronto. Survived by wife and children, his funeral was held at St Andrew's Church Orangeville with service led by Rev MacQueen and Rev Murdoch Mackinnon. Pallbearers included family and friends, with floral tributes noted.

Ivan Green, son of Mr and Mrs George Green of Stanley Creek, drowned in an unused cistern at their home after a search by neighbors. The six year old, who would have turned seven, was mourned alongside his infant sister Eilner and other family members. Mr A G Greer formerly Georgetown Public School principal and George Green attended Georgetown High School and Strathcona School before moving to Stoney Creek earlier this summer. Fire outbreak in fire escape premises near bingo hall
A fire broke out Wednesday night in premises used for making fire escapes, started in a box of paper and rubbish. The small pumper hose controlled the blaze before it reached the wall partition, causing dense smoke to fill the upper room and drift into the legion hall where a bingo game was underway. Ladies fled the street as cards lay abandoned.
