Mayor voices concern over Briar Hill subdivision plans
Georgetown mayor objects to the Briar Hill subdivision on the former Cro mar farm near town limits. He warns it could affect the town economy and strain water sewage and high school services as students already travel to Acton. The planning board, urged by a planning department letter, could not answer all questions and held off on endorsement.

Rear-End Collision Causes $900 in Vehicle Damage
A Sunday night crash at McCulloughs corner on highway No 7 involved Walter Watchus of Churchville in a 1956 Dodge and Ferdinand Doss of Toronto in a 1953 Lincoln. Watchus slowed for a stopped vehicle while Doss failed to slow, causing about $400 damage to the Lincoln and over $500 to the Dodge. OPP officer George Moore investigated.

Georgetown youths escape injury in car rollover
Lenny Bodz age 18 of Main Street and Danny Boyle of 119 Main Street North escaped serious harm after their 1948 Studebaker rolled over twice on the sixth line last Saturday September 8. The car skidded on loose gravel hit a ditch and overturned near a sharp road bend before crossing a bridge. Damages pegged at about 400 dollars, near the car’s value.

Planning Board hears church site query in Georgetown
Peter Weststeyn of River Drive asked the Georgetown Planning Board if zoning would block the Christian Re formed Church from locating on Main Street. He noted the church may buy the former Georgetown Dairy property and was told the purchase would be possible, with a suggestion to discuss a potential right of way into the rear valley that could become a public parking area someday.

Planning Board Denies Georgeview Restaurant Permit
The Georgetown Planning Board recommended to council that a permit not be granted for a 10 foot side addition to the Georgeview Open Kitchen on No T. The board cited insufficient off street parking per the proposed bylaw and urged the owner Sam Turdhyon to secure arrangements with neighboring landowners before reconsideration.

Father Anselm Spacey Named Capuchin Superior in Ontario

Wrecks Car Swerves To Miss Tractor In Ontario Crash
Ron Rogers a 23 year old driver and passenger Diane Cardoza 18 of Kitchener escaped unharmed after Rogers swerved to avoid a slow moving tractor on the hill between Penson's Service Station and McCulloughs corner. The 1955 Ford spun into the east ditch and rolled over twice injuring no one but causing 800 to 1000 dollars in damage. Don Lindsay drove the tractor and OPP officer George Moore Milton detachment investigated.
