The 1945 Georgetown Fair attracted about 4500 visitors from Ontario with ideal weather and strong livestock, racing, and crafts displays. Exquesing Agricultural Society President Craix Beid led a busy, well attended event at the park with notable horse racing, a baby show, a softball game, and a bustling hall exhibit scene.

St George's Church of England hosted the wedding of Helen Kathleen Shepherd daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Shepherd MBE to Noel Cloutier son of Mr. and Mrs. A Cloutier of Peace River Alberta on Monday September 10. The bride wore a lime green silk dress with pink roses in her bouquet and was attended by Doris Shepherd in lavender crepe. Le Corpl B A Raymond of the Irish Regiment served as groomsman. The couple plan a honeymoon and to settle in St Lee.

Kidd Returns Home From Overseas Brothers Serving Abroad
Cpl. Dorris Kidd arrived in Georgetown yesterday after four years and seven months overseas with the Lorne Scots RCASC and Canadian Postal Corps. He served in Italy, Holland and Belgium and is married to Ruby Tennant with a five year old son Bobby. His brother Pte. Fred Kidd was killed in France in Oct 1944 and two other Kidds are overseas in England.

Sgt Albert Reeve Returns Home From War Service
Sgt Albert E Reeve RCEME returns to Georgetown after service in Italy and Holland. Son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Reeve he enlisted July 1 1940 with the 48th Highlanders trained at Camp Borden and Debrett served with Canadian Scottish Regiment. He later joined Cape Breton Highlanders Perth Regiment and RCEME. He married Alice Edwards in August 1942 and they will be following him to Canada. He worked at Cripps Garage and in a Kirkland Lake mining camp. His brother Sydney served overseas and has since been discharged.
