Night School Courses Offer Wide Selection at Georgetown High
Georgetown High opens night school this fall with a wide range of credit courses for Grades 11 and 12 and adult learners. If enrollment is insufficient at Georgetown, some classes may move to Milton Burlington or Oakville. registration days are September 22 and 24 requiring at least twenty students. Courses include technical, commercial, dressmaking, English for new Canadians, conversational French, woodworking, modern math for parents, upholstery, fitness, flower arranging, rug hooking, millinery, personal grooming, and a laymen’s course in law and banking. A and W Drive In Permit Gets Nod
On Guelph Street next to Mac's Milk council authorized the building inspector to issue the permit for an A and W drive in. Dr Ern Hyde noted the area is properly zoned for such an establishment. Dr Ric Morrow voiced disappointment at town traffic but supported zoning. Dr W Smith said defeat would not stop the project. Inquest into Toronto Man Drowning at Waterfalls Playground
A coroner's inquest will convene September 24 in Esquesing Township Hall into the drowning of Fayle Vuletic a 27 year old Weston resident described as a good swimmer. He disappeared in five feet of water after friends heard him cry out at Waterfalls Playground during early summer.

Georgetown youth pleads guilty to manslaughter
Philip White, 18, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to manslaughter in the death of his father Robert White, 42, following an argument at their Joseph Street home last May. A grand jury had ordered a non-capital murder trial, which was dropped. The elder White, an employee at a Ford plant in Bramalea, died from a stomach wound after being shot with a .22 rifle.

Mayor's Son Gets First Bike License

Two Injured In Main Mapple Crash At Intersection
Two men were injured in a two car collision at Main Street and Maple Avenue Thursday night. Douglas Mitchell of 5 Arletta Street suffered head injuries and passenger James Taylor of 121A Main Street North had a head cut and sprained ankle. Vehicle damage totals were $1,350 across the two cars. Police cited timing at 10 40 p.m. and ambulance staff transported the injured to hospital. Other incidents that day included a 1962 Mercury collision near Mountaintop with a 1965 Dodge causing $145 in damage and a car striking a house beside Moore Park plaza causing $150 damage. A 1964 Buick rolled from a plaza lot into a yard, knocking brick and damaging property. A separate Saturday incident on Main Street North at James Street caused $125 in total damage to a backing Chevrolet and a turning left driver. Constable Arnold Vanclief investigated.
