Police Chief Haley urged parents and drivers to observe school safety rules as students return to classes. He called for vigilance in school zones, use of crossing guards, and reminding children of safe conduct to prevent injuries. He noted crossing guards at key points and urged motorists to slow down and watch for youngsters.
Enrollment in Georgetown area schools neared 5200 pupils as term started with Georgetown elementary and Esquesing district schools accounting for most. Public schools reported 2277 pupils, Esquesing 1234, Holy Cross 340, and Calvinist Christian 75 more than last September, with Holy Cross adding 46.
Emma Burrough of Palmerston, long-time resident, died suddenly in Arthur, Ontario. She is survived by daughter Doris Stief, sons Walter Burrough of Toronto, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services referenced, with mentions of family members and wartime history.

A tractor mower operator cutting weeds along the Canadian National Railway property leaped clear as his machine tumbled ten feet over an embankment and burst into flames. Firefighters from Georgetown drove through a 10th Street dead end to reach the burning mower, which was wrecked with burned tires and a bent blade.
Kitchener industrial committee members visited Avian Aircraft at Armstrong Ave to woo a 100 acre site outside the city for a gyroplane plant. The offer includes package sewerage and water supply, near Waterloo Wellington Airport. Avian plans production of the Avian 2 180 gyroplane in March 1964.
A revised schedule shows the Glen Williams fast ball club drawing Friday night instead of Monday at the Glen ball park. The playoff between Glen Williams and Hillsburgh opens in Intercounty Fastball.
Georgetown council delayed final approval on a factory agreement tied to Delrex and Heslop. Critics cited buyback clauses and school land pricing while supporters argued the deal secures 173 acres of industrial land and spurs new industry at Todd Head.

Elizabeth Davidson, a top graduate from Georgetown District High School, earned the Governors Scholarship worth 560 dollars from McMaster University. She will enroll next week. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Douglas Davidson of Parkview Blvd she scored 70.8 in Grade 13 exams.
