Georgetown Votes on Sewerage October 9

Council plans a public vote on sewerage for October 9 after a summer revess. A public meeting will be held at the theatre to discuss the project with property owners. Mayor Cleave proposes gifts for armed forces vets and a later meeting. Georgetown hopes to elect a deputy reeve and progress toward the Blind on September 22. The Georgetown fair draws exhibitors from Ontario with Jack McPherson of CBC attending to report.

Hay Turnbull Wedding in Tara Saskatchewan Last Weekend

The marriage of Ivan Bowman Hay to Miss Hay was performed by Rev. W J Davis in Tara at the home of Mr and Mrs M Hay. The bride wore a pale pink gown and veil, with bridesmaid Miss Margaret Pasmore in blue net over taffeta. The couple plan a visit to Piske and will reside on Mill Street Georgetown after returning.

LIMEHOUSE Miss Beulah Bruce visited Miss Ivens recently. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Newton spent few holidays in the north. Bauman Bros. have their machinery set up and are travelling township roads from the Evans property. School opened at S. S. No. 9 with Miss Jean Ruddell in charge and twenty-one pupils enrolled. Br. and Mrs. Ted Morrow and Elane visited Mrs. Lane. Mr. Cyril Engleby is laid up with a leg injury received while playing baseball on Saturday. Sunday school reopens at 2 pm. Rept. Std. The WI. ladies quilted a quilt on Monday afternoon for the McLaughlin family who lost their home by fire a Week ago. Messrs. Archie and Ken. McDonald and W. Summers motored west for the harvest last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Norton spent a few days at Kearney recently. Mr. and Mrs. Milliere and Mr. and Mrs. Scratch spent the weekend at Wasagi Beach. Mss Laura Monroe of Niagara Falls NY has been holidaying with Mrs. Ellery. Visitors with Miss Swackhamer re- Mr. and Mrs. George Milliere and son George of Toledo OH, and Miss Helen Swackhamer of Detroit. Miss Peggy Smellnost of Sandbury spent last week with her mother, while recuperating from a tonsil operation. Mr. and Mrs. Co. A. Gram of Toronto spent the week end with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Mills spent the week end at the old horns.

Ken Mackenzie arrives in Quebec August 27 and proceeds to Pictou Nova Scotia with wife Lois Aikens and baby Jack. He trained as navigator in Canada and became instructor before joining J B Mackenzie firm. George Blyth returns from overseas to Georgetown and is married to Elsine Colins. he served with the City of Westmoremont Tycoon Squadron in Europe. Tony Stapleton arrives back in Hamilton after Italy Holland and Germany service with the Lorne Scots. three Stapleton brothers served, Albert and Eddie in Germany with the Canadian Army.

Beerman Returns Home After War Service

Private Kenneth Beerman arrived in Georgetown after serving with Pacific forces in England Holland and Germany. He enlisted January 30 1944 trained at Petawawa Hamilton Trades School and Debert sailed February 1945. He is married to Mike Klages with sons Johnny and David, and family living in Chesley. A civic reception honored him.

Local Soldier George Long Returns Home From Service

Sgt George Long son of Mr and Mrs John Long arrived home Wednesday after four years with RAF research and radio work. He volunteered for the Army of Occupation in Europe but was not accepted and after a 30 day home leave will report for discharge. He enlisted in the RCAF four years ago last May and trained as a radio technician at the University of Western Ontario. Previously he worked at Alliance Paper Mills Ltd. His brother Bdsma Long of the Navy left Tuesday for Halifax after a furlough.

Tennant Brothers Return From Overseas Service

Pte Bernard Tennant arrives home with the Lorne Scots after service in England France Belgium and Holland. He docked at Quebec City on the Samaria and is married to Sylvia Button. They have a son Bernard Jr expected to join them in Canada in about a month.
