Halton Swine Team Crowned Provincial Champions
The 1940 Provincial Inter-Club Contests at Ontario Agricultural College Guelph drew 360 members from Renfrew to Lambton and Cochrane. Halton teams in Swine Foal Dairy Cattle and Grain placed strongly with Angus McNabb Bruce Reid and the Georgetown Boy's Swine Club earning top honors for Halton and the Farmer Trophy. Fire destroys Thompson farm barn in Esquesing district
A Sunday night fire at J. J. Thompson's farm on 5th Line Esquesing destroyed a large barn and its hay and grain. Three horses and several cattle were saved. a sow and litter perished. Loss partly covered by insurance as hundreds flocked to the scene after the fire alarm at around midnight.
