Councillor Ian Cass says government grants up to 100000 may fund 50 50 municipal costs if a nearby town shares. Georgetown to be considered if needed as debate moves to planning board and department when more facts emerge.
The Georgetown Anglers and Hunters association held its annual turkey shoot at Robert McMaster's farm drawing 460 participants. D Puckering won three turkeys in shotgun events while Harold Bennett Tom Peavey each claimed two. Don Powers and R Burt each earned two in rile events, with several others winning single birds.
St George's Anglican Church launches a Sunday bus service at 10 00 am for Church School children and parents to attend the 11 00 am worship. An exceptionally heavy blast at a district quarry caused anxious moments for households in town and district Monday. The blast, about 60 pan, shook houses over a wide area and local police were flooded with phone calls seeking what had happened.
The Fall Thank Offering Evening Auxiliary of St John's United Church met Monday evening October 9 in the Ladies Parlour. Miss Greta Clarke of Peterborough spoke about thirty years of missionary work in China with slides. Musical numbers by Mrs Wrigglesworth and Isobel Dobson plus Mrs Sack Bailey followed. The session closed with hymn Trust and Obey and a lunch hosted by Mrs Whitmee, Mrs Prouse, and Mrs Gilson.

Seven new members were initiated into Lionism at the Lions Club meeting. Harold Marshall Tom Lodwicke Harold Coleman Murray Henley Ken Gallimore Al Carswell and Bill Allen joined, with District Governor Jack Vicary officiating. The event followed a $2000 rodeo and Jamboree proceeds and a $2500 car draw, and included remarks on Lionism as the world’s largest service club. An upcoming turkey shoot at W Hunters farm on October 20 and the Santa Claus Parade were discussed.
