Transients to be Put on Farms Under Direction of A Maclaren
Unemployed single men without relief access will be absorbed on Ontario farms under a new program directed by A Maclaren. Eric Cross announced after talks with Premier Hepburn and Labor Minister N O Hipel. The scheme, run by the Department of Labor, will hire 16 to 30 year olds at $120 to $200 yearly plus board and lodgings, with monthly rates of $10 before April 1939 and $10 to $20 thereafter. Registration starts immediately.

Toronto Man Pays Fine On Liquor Charge
Anthony Lani of Toronto paid a 10 dollar fine plus 22 dollars in costs after pleading guilty to illegally consuming liquor. Prank Trigardi of Toronto was acquitted of reckless driving and driving without an operator's permit. The incident stems from a October 14 crash on No 7 highway near Norval that left all three occupants with minor injuries.

NORVAL St Pauls W A are holding a sale of home baking and afternoon tea in the Parish Hall Friday Nov 4. A four Georgetown men narrowly escaped serious injury about 7 am Monday when their car to work was struck by a west bound vehicle on the curve at the village west end. The Georgetown Lumber Co car overturned into a ditch and damaged. The Toronto driver Miller Schwartz rear fender damaged. two occupants unharmed. Traffic Officer Howell of Rockwood investigated. This curve has been the scene of about a dozen accidents this summer and is poorly marked. The Presbyterian Church annual supper will be held Friday evening with a program afterward. Mrs J Brown, ill at her daughter’s in Acton, is much improved.
