Regiment Cooks to Take Six Week Dietetics Course
The Toronto Dietetics Association sponsors a six week course in dietetics at the Lorne Scots base depot under Lt Col Louis Keene. Lecturers include Miss W M Ryley and Dr Jessie Brodie among others. The program aims to raise army cooks’ skill, improve meals and health, reduce waste, and boost pride in service.

Warning Issued On Dimmed Lights By Traffic Officers
Traffic officers issue a warning that they will lay information against motorists who fail to dim lights when approaching other cars. The campaign is expected to yield a large number of citations.
Women form auxiliary to Lorne Scots officers and men
Officers wives in Brampton last Friday organized the Women’s Auxiliary to the Lorne Scots Peel Dufferin and Halton Regiment. Mrs Louis Keene is president with vice presidents Mrs R V Conover Brampton and Mrs Elgin Wansborough Shelburne and secretary Mrs M M Wyndham Oakville. District convenors include Mrs F Herbert Chisholm Oakville Mrs Anderson Brampton Dr G A Montemurro Streetsville Port Credit Mrs G N Fitzgerald Orangeville and Mrs Arnott Early Georgetown. The auxiliary will assist families and meet monthly in Brampton with district meetings more often. Initial goals include funds to supply shorts and shirts for regiment men and wool for knitting socks and sweaters.

Obituary of R. J. Kerr of Acton
R J Kerr of Acton died early Wednesday after a week of illness. A longtime auctioneer and community leader, he contributed to Acton Far projects, park improvements, and municipal service. He lived most of his life in Erin Township before moving to Acton and Maplehurst on Bower Avenue. He served as chairman of the Public Utilities Commission and was active with the Ontario Parks Association and Acton Fair. He was remembered for loyalty to Erin Township, dedication to Acton welfare, and broad community impact.

Halton Club Teams Score High in Provincial Contest
The Ontario provincial inter club contest at the Ontario Agricultural College drew 165 teams or 330 youths. Halton represented in swine foal grain and dairy cattle with Geo Fisher and Alton Breckon finishing second in swine. Herb Reid and Angus McNabb placed fourth in foal, Angus McNabb second high overall. Grain team Jack Van Goozen and Bruce Reid placed sixth. Milton Holstein Calf Club members John Van Sickle Palermo and Fred Bell of Freeman contributed to a strong showing. A banquet closed the event with remarks by Minister P M Dewan.

Two Men Brought to Trial for Manslaughter at Fall Assizes
Peel County grand jury returned true bills Tuesday against William Yarranton and Alfred H. Fonger. Yarranton faces manslaughter in the death of a Brampton House of Refuge inmate James Cation. Fonger is charged in connection with the death of Highway Traffic Patrolman R. Blucher on the Queen Elizabeth Way on September 3.
