An evening at Mountain View home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Brown marked their 25th wedding anniversary on Oct. 14, 1922. About forty guests enjoyed a banquet, an impromptu program led by Rev. J. S. Moore, speeches and music, with notable talks by Miss Annie Rose and Miss Evelyn Brownscomb. A silver tea service was presented, and gifts from Women’s Institute and friends from Toronto Stouffville Uxbridge Quebec Stratford New Dundee Charlevoix Mich. were received. the gathering concluded with song.
Four men implicated in a Milton pocket-picking charge appeared before Police Magistrate Shields at the Court House and were committed for trial after evidence was heard. At the 465th annual Provincial W C T U convention in Oshawa Mrs J M Denyes of Milton was re elected Superintendent of the department of Scientific Temperance Instruction and named as a delegate to the World convention in Philadelphia in three weeks.
Miss Laura Sprow was operated on for appendicitis at Guelph Hospital last Friday and is making good progress. At Weyburn Saskatchewan's Knox Church meeting, Rev J C Wilson chaired. W H Speight from Toronto is now well enough to go home, recovering from injuries. Alex Waldie, Knox Church elder, appeared at service after critical illness and hospital stay, and is reported as quite recovered.
The article notes busy farmers picking apples potatoes and turnips in the area. Mr. Wm Shortill of London recently stayed with his mother Mr. Richard Shortill and several friends here. Rev Mr Waite led the afternoon Methodist anniversary service and Mr Evans led the evening service with a strong Erin choir providing the day’s hymnody.
Neighbors on the eighth line hosted a farewell evening for Hodge Barnes and Mrs Lytton with music games and a gift of a fine oak library table and two chairs. An address from the neighborhood thanked Barnes for years of service as pathmaster and friendship and wished him health and prosperity. A bouquet was presented to Mrs Sutton as parting honors.
Word came to Toronto of the death in Ombe Alberta of Rev Geo A Mitchell aged 82. He served the Methodist Church with distinction for many years and was father to General C H Mitchell and P H Mitchell of Toronto. He had recent health travels in California and Vancouver before living with his Lacombe daughter. Remains brought to Toronto for interment. Survived by widow one daughter and two sons in Toronto.
The Norval branch of the Women’s Institute will hold its monthly meeting at Mrs. Thos. Hewson Jr’s home on Thursday November 2. Papers will be given by Mrs. Liewson and Mrs. Patterson. An invitation is extended to all ladies to attend. The Men’s Institute will hold a Quick Relief shower at Mrs. Patterson’s home on October 17. Donations poured in, with the Manse receiving bales valued at 350 dollars. Luncheon followed. The Women’s Institute thanks all contributors as it begins its reorganization efforts with high hopes.
Glenwilliams invites the community to the Orangemen’s big dance Friday Oct 27. Local residents enjoyed a shooting day at Inal Saturday. Charles Foster’s illness prompts well wishes for recovery. A Methodist Church service next Sunday offers singing for all. Misa M M Wright and Detta Wheeler return from illness to duty. James Bell buys the Hortop property and moves in.
Local cartman advertises fresh cabbage onions and potatoes with express order line in Poone 106 promising prompt delivery and attentive service to customers seeking produce essentials.
The Canadian National Railways promote a hunter oriented itinerary with the National Way. Special trains will run from Toronto Union Station to Capreol and Key Junction in late Oct and early Nov. Regular trains will supplement service with sleeping baggage and coach cars. The Hunter's Leaflet is available through CN agents or the General Passenger Department in Toronto.

It follows two neighboring families years after, with a disruptive English newcomer and vivid portraits of locals the Sneezits and a widowed family, ending with a wedding and strong literary quality. Stewarttown reports the Esquesing Women’s Institute collected and shipped two large bales of clothing and a grocery crate valued at 220 to assist people in the Northern Ontario fire zone. Gratitude is extended to all who contributed after a prior appeal.
