Steam Locomotive Charters Through Town on Sunday
A steam locomotive pulling an excursion train chartered by the Upper Canada Railway Society passed through the local yard around 12 30 pm on Sunday. Inglewood man John Sheppard, 30, suffered severe head and chest injuries in a single car crash at Maple Avenue and Guelph Street early Saturday. He was treated at Georgetown Memorial Hospital then Toronto General. condition is poor. He rammed a traffic island, was thrown from the Rambler, with $1,000 car damage and $350 to a light standard. Another crash later that morning involved Ronald R. Brown, who escaped injury after his northbound Main Street turn collided with a hydro pole when an unidentified car pulled out.

School Girl Killed After Leaving Bus
A five year old girl died Friday after leaving a Georgetown District Christian School bus at Park and Charles Street. Verna Prouse of 11 Margaret Street drove the car that struck her. Suzanne Schipper, six, was buried Monday at Glen Williams Cemetery after a funeral in the Christian Reformed Church. The accident marked Georgetown’s first fatality in four years.
