James Scott, Georgetown’s oldest resident, died at home on Monday October 14 after a long life that began in Prince Edward County. He worked 67 years at the Barber Paper Mill, retired in 1630, and left two children and a grandson. The funeral was held at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. C C Cochrane officiating.

UNRRA mobilizes thousands of sturdy Canadian draft horses for service in war devastated Europe. At the Eastern Public Cattle Market in Montreal more than 9 500 have been cared for and up to 16 000 are planned for shipment after processing. Horses travel by Canadian Pacific Railway from Western Canada and are weighed, inoculated, branded with UO and registered for overseas duty under supervision of Dr. Charles E. Taylor and Dr. Romeo Raymond.
