A devotional by Mars A Reeve and remarks by LeRoy Dale KC covered Acts and the role of lawyers in community life. The afternoon included songs by Mrs. Vannatter, Mrs. Norman Burns, and Miss Marion Overend, and adjourned for a November gathering at Mrs. Morley Pettit’s Maple Ave East home.

Norval Junior Institute Meeting Highlights
Large turnout at the October Norval Junior Institute and Junior Farmers gathering at the Ruddell home. Members answered roll call with a favourite furniture word. Jean Fisher and Charlotte McCullough presented papers on furniture and woods. Mrs McCullough demonstrated old furniture. Mr Bush spoke of Noranda and the north country. A reading hour followed while refreshments were served.

Georgetown Lions Club met at the McGibbon Hotel with Chief H. CO. McClure chairing. The meeting praised Lion Grant for arranging the frolic that raised about 345 dollars for child welfare and approved annual frolic and garden party events. New initiation formed Lions James Ballantine and William King. The club reported progress on a dental clinic and school facilities and discussed a boxing event and school safety patrols. Car somersaults on Norval Hill
A Toronto car rolled over on the west hill Norval last Friday night and was struck by a second vehicle near the bottom. Passenger Frank Trigardi of Manning Avenue, Toronto, suffered slight lacerations and was not treated. Driver of the other car was C M Graham of Hamilton.

Local Plowmen Complete Plans for County Match
The Halton Plowmen’s Association releases a prize list and adds a no handling class to attract enthusiasts. President Peter Peddie says plans are shaping up for a record match at the William Near farm near Hornby on Nov 4, drawing top plowmen from across the province.
