A firm of Tyrente Consulting Signsers, Demisend Smith Ltd. has been engaged to survey CNR area bridges and related traffic improvements. Reports will cover widening overhead bridges on Main Street and Mountainview Road, widening and straightening the John Street culvert, and a new overhead pedestrian walk near the station. The project fee is C$4500. The firm was one of ten bids, and was the second lowest.

Thomas Slater, a town work staff member, was knocked unconscious by a potent gas while locating a storm sewer pipe at John Street West. He was rescued after coworkers, aided by Gord Harley and Ken Hill, pulled him from the manhole and he was treated at Georgetown District Memorial Hospital where his condition improved after hours of monitoring.

Council Moves To Survey Ewing Street For Safer Pedestrian Traffic
