Alice Louise Davenport McMillan died in St Joseph's Hospital Hamilton on October 11 at age 62 after a month of illness. Survived by husband Linus McMillan and two sons Grant and Ro Ro 2 Rockwood a daughter Perle and many siblings. Funeral at Rumley Funeral Home Acton Sunday at 3 30 pm with Nassagaweya Presbyterian and St Johns Anglican clerics officiating. Burial in Nassagaweya Presbyterian Cemetery.
Stewarttown notes report mumps waning among residents and a list of community items. Esquesing Women's Institute met at Mrs J Sanford with topics on community activities and a ghost story roll call. A shower for Lois Milham and Ernest Keller occurred during a hydro outage with dancing to Doris Hall's Orchestra.

Mrs Roy Haley weekend in Buffalo with Toronto Eastern Star friends. Mr and Mrs Jack McAllister of Shelburne Sunday with Harold McLaren River Drive. Edith Morris returns to Windsor after week in Guelph Belfountain and with Mrs William Ostrander 7 Emery Street. Mr and Mrs Andrew Rutherford Brandon Manitoba and Mr and Mrs Charles Rutherford Keswick visited ST F Grieves. Ted Darlington Main Street South hosted Michael Harten and Stanley Sherwin of Toronto. Mrs S B Groat and Mrs Day Victoria Street visited S C MacKenzie Ancaster. Burton Macdonald Joyce 24 Queen Street Thanksgiving week end with Clayton Couns Lachine Quebec.
With winter on the doorstep hockey plans are shaping up. A meeting to form an executive for the Intermediates and make season plans is set Friday at 8 P.M. in the arena. Anyone interested in hockey is welcome to attend. Georgetown may join Stouffville Brampton Oakville Milton Elmira with Bridgeport a possible entry and home ice talks with Hespeler. Rovers expect a strong team with most of last season’s players available.
Patriga Willson was honored with several showers and presentations before her marriage to George Frederick Grasby of Norval. Marlene Jhuxon, Norval, hosted friends for a miscellaneous shower. Mrs Bert Haynes of Brampton hosted another. Charlotte McCullough hosted the Alliance office staff for a presentation shower. Shirley Grasby and Mrs Charles Armstrong of Norval co hosted a pantry shower.
The October Silver Wood W.L meeting at Mrs. Marchinton's home drew 12 members 1 visitor and 2 children. Roll call suggested good reading. $5 to St John Ambulance and wool for layettes ordered. A letter urged litter reduction. Dr Hay of the Mental Health Association Toronto spoke on care for maladjusted individuals and family harmony. He cited that 52 percent of hospitalized Canadians are in mental hospitals. The gathering ended with social time. several local and international visitors joined the event, with numerous Thanksgiving visits and travels noted.
Walter Richardson aged 64 of 27 Admiral Road Toronto died at Peel Memorial Hospital after his 1955 Dodge left No 7 Highway hit a tree approaching Georgetown. Authorities say he blacked out from heart failure causing the crash before ambulance transport. He was an artists equipment salesman. Constable Scott and George Moore investigated.
Georgetown Lions Club urged by One Canadian Cancer Society to inaugurate a North Halton unit north of No 5 Highway. An open meeting at Georgetown Legon Hall Monday 8 p.m. invites church groups service clubs Legion branches auxiliaries and others. Dr R M Taylor National Cancer Institute Canadian Cancer Society will speak.
At a Limehouse meeting, residents decided to proceed with rebuilding the Memorial Hall wall with full support from the community. A WLA baking sale and card party at the KirkPatrick home drew nine tables and reported a successful event, with prizes awarded to Robert Lown and Ronald Latimer. Additional local notices include WMS Thankoffering meetings, hospital surgeries for Donna Kier and Neil Benton, and a Thanksgivings talk by Mrs. W Greenlees, plus social visits by several residents over the weekend.
Patricia Ann Willson and George Frederick Grasby wed at St John’s United Church on October 12 with Rev. Morgan McFarlane officiating. The couple, both from Ontario, will reside in Georgetown after a reception in the church hall and a honeymoon trip through Algonquin Park. Guests came from Guelph, Trenton, Mount Forest, Brampton, Toronto, Clarkson, Norval and Barrie.
Figure skating classes opened Monday evening with about one hundred pupils enrolled. Ross Smith of Guelph will direct, joined later by Roy Warden. Pupils are split into four groups with lessons 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday. The carnival is expected early in spring.
The weather note records a high of 81 degrees on Sunday, 24 degrees above October's normal. The piece also quips that the two most used words last week were nice weather.
