Mrs Emma Jane Wheeler 76 Dies After Short Illness
Mrs Emma Jane Wheeler widow of Robert Wheeler died October 10 at her Church Street home after six months of illness confined ten days. Born in Ogdensburg New York she moved to Limehouse then etown and finally to Church Street. Survived by daughter Bella and son Edward with C N R Hamilton a brother Edward Hill and three brothers predeceased. Funeral from her Limehouse residence with burial in Limehouse Cemetery. Reverend D Davidson of Knox Presbyterian conducted the service. Pallbearers Andrew Dobbie Angus Lawson Thomas Dobbie William Patterson Marshall Currie William Marshall. Relatives and friends came from Georgetown Acton Guelph Toronto and Orangeville.

Legion to educate thousands of armed men in Canada and overseas
Canadian Legion War Services announces fall and winter education programs for soldiers at sea, on land, and in the air. Lieut.-Col. Wilfrid Bovey says provincial education departments and many instructors offer honorary services as three to four thousand Canadian servicemen plan to enroll locally, with hundreds abroad in Britain, Newfoundland, and Iceland.

Anniversary Services at Knox Presbyterian Church
Knx Presbyterian Church hosted anniversary services last Sunday with two Toronto ministers as guest preachers. Rev. Ross K. Camron led the morning service from Dovercourt Road Presbyterian Church and Rev. Gilbert Little spoke at the evening service. Special music featured the choir under 8. T. Faram, with Miss June Frank at the organ, while Mr. William Young accompanied Miss Frank on violin during offertory. Baritone solo by Mr. W. Chater in morning service and tenor Mr. A. Hayman in evening. A hot fowl supper for arrangants followed Tuesday night. Ruthven McDonald, famed for character sketches, was absent. Param substituted with vocal solos.

Lorne Scots Parade At Erin Fair On Thanksgiving Day
The Co of the Lore Scots Regiment paraded through Erin last Monday on Thanksgiving Day under Major J R Barber with units from Georgetown Milton Acton and Grand Valley. Most troops came from Georgetown including two full platoons Mortar Platoon and much of Headquarters. Col Conover inspected at the fair grounds after a march down Erin Main Street.

Tyers Creamery Proprietor Joins RCAF Staff
E. B. Tyers, owner of Tyers Creamery on Main Street, enlisted as a truck mechanic with the RCAF last week and is currently stationed in Toronto. He expects transfer soon, likely to Camp Borden, as Mrs. Tyers runs the business with Gordon Powers and Wilfrid Kirkwood, ex Acton Creamery workers.

Prominent Esquesing Resident Buried This Afternoon
Funeral services for George Leslie were held at his home in Esquesing with Rev. F C Overend officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown. Leslie served 44 years as Esquesing Township treasurer, resigning last April due to ill health. He was born in Chinguacousy Township in 1856 and left a large family including five living children.
