Mrs McDowell the president conducted the draw raising $630 for the Herald Soldier’s Comfort Fund. George Ford held the lucky ticket. A committee was formed to arrange a lecture by Asia Oliver from Cedar Vale School on the need to impose standards in these difficult times.
Local bowlers hosted a well patronised eight end game event on Thanksgiving Day with ideal weather. Winners included W. C. Bell 37, E. S. Chapman 38, Mrs. W. Miller 27, and Mrs. Exn Thompson $7 prize. A vote of thanks was given to Miss Oliver and the hostess.
Dr Jim Endicott, missionary of the United Church of Canada in China, spoke at Lowville United Church to Halton Presbytery and the W M B executive. He discussed prewar Far East politics and China’s resistance, sharing human interest stories from the Sino Japanese War and urging Christian solutions to future Far East issues.
