Port Credit Firm to Handle Georgetown Garbage Contract
G. W. Ramm Co. Ltd. of Port Credit to take over Georgetown’s garbage collection and disposal pending Monday. The three year contract costs $2.62 per person and replaces Lane's Transport, Ltd. which had held the bid for several years. Ramm was the lowest of six bids submitted last week. A $10,650 performance bond will be required in the contract.

Sand Pit Death Tragedy In Glen Williams
Seven year old Paul Hancock died after a sand pit at a village playground collapsed trapping him under eight feet of earth. Larry Leslie was also entombed but rescued. Rescuers, firemen, and police attended as neighbours and night shift workers searched, a death inquest to follow.

Man Uses Aluminum Nails To Fight Elm Disease
A Michigan man tried several sprays against Dutch Elm disease and found aluminum effective though costly. He spilled zinc or aluminum around the tree, observed quick uptake, then drove aluminum nails into trees just above ground to halt the disease in his trees and neighbors.

World War II Veteran Dies in Georgetown Hospital
A World War II veteran and longtime Halton Cooperative Supplier employee, Sydney Robin, died at Georgetown Hospital after a stroke and failing health. He served six years overseas with the army and later worked for Canadian National Railways and Halton Cooperative Supplier in Milton. He was 71, married to Viola Chisholm King, and survived by a brother and sister Hedley and Agnes Lacelle. A Legion service and funeral followed at Harold C. Ne Clare Funeral Home with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
