Miss Evelyn Stockford and Mr E Cooper from Georgetown hospitalised after a three car collision on Keele Street at Eglinton Avenue Toronto. Thomas Watts of Toronto drove one car along with Stockford and Cooper in his vehicle. Pte Pegeau of C Company ROR also injured. Watts unhurt. Stockford remained in hospital with concussion while Cooper suffered a grave skull fracture. Pegeau slight injuries.

At a well attended October 10 1939 gathering in the Public Library Auditorium Georgetown residents voted to form a Canadian Red Cross branch. Mayor Gibbons presided and F C Slater spoke on aims while Mrs J B Mackenzie Hughes Cleaver MP Rev Overend and Rev Thompson addressed. More than 10 000 spectators watched the Guelph Cross Country Run and Road Race Association events on Thanksgiving Day. Scotty Rankine of Press won the 15 mile open in 1 18 45, ahead of D McCallum of Toronti. Mico Valeriote led the five mile open, with Marty Dickson of Kitchener second and Wallace of Toronto third. Bill Collier of Georgetown, racing for Toronto Gladstone, placed fourth. Jimmy Emmerson and Bruce Harley of Georgetown finished ninth and tenth in the 10 mile cross country.
