Ontario Hydro seeks two power corridors through Halton Hills with hearings split by the Ontario Municipal Board at Hydro request. The minister and Hydro spokesman differed on whether separate reviews were standard practice.
Halton Hills council debated Ontario Hydro plans to build transmission corridors through Milton and Halton Hills. ICG chair John Schneider said estimates vary from nine to thirteen tower lines by 1992, with up to 17 towers by the mid-1990s. Expropriation hearings noted a potential 250 foot right of way but maps show wider tower layouts.
Tower expansion by Ontario Hydro could force Fifth Line farmer Dave Moffat out as land demands for a corridor grow from 675 to 1750 feet per tower. He warned council of hazardous overhead lines risking irrigation pipes and public liability, calling the situation a real timebomb near Essa station and Barrie air traffic.
Halton region weighs interim financing for the Norval water supply project as the province allocates 221196 in the 1976 79 budget to cover 64.7 percent of the 427165 projected cost.
