Rising rates will shape Georgetown's next bond issue to fund public works with an anticipated seven and a half percent rate. The council meets tomorrow to map polling districts for December elections. A floor polisher priced at 255 dollars was ordered for the municipal building. Windows Crack When Car Catches Fire
A fire of unknown origin damaged the front seat and upholstery of Bill Hayes's car on Main Street North. Bil McEnery noticed smoke at about 7 am and alerted Mrs Hayes. Wilf Breen called the fire brigade. Firefighters saved most of the interior but the front windows cracked from heat. Estimated interior damage is $300.

Car Crash Near Acton Leaves Three Injured And Power Outage
A rear end collision just east of Acton Friday night caused a blackout in Georgetown. Ed Footitt 18 Acton drove west on number seven highway when Robert Henry 28 Rockwood hit from behind. Henry’s Buick broke a hydro pole, leaving both vehicles in ditches and a 14 year old Georgetown passenger with minor injuries. Trevor Rice 41 Guelph and Elgin Crispin 27 Rockwood were seriously hurt with rib fractures neck injuries and dislocations. OPP officer George Moore investigated.

Holstein head killed in North York demolition accident
George C. Jackson, 61, longtime North York farmer allied with the Holstein Friesian Association, died instantly when a falling timber struck him during barn demolition with a bulldozer. He had sold the barn to his cousin John Buchanan of Aurora and was assisting in dismantling it.
