Soldiers' Comforts Committee Raises 112.53 in Tag Day

Cedar Crest Ladies Hold Annual Field Day Surprises
The Cedar Crest Golf Club ladies organized a Saturday field day with two ball foursomes, driving, approaching and putting contests followed by a hot supper. Prizes were awarded to teams including Mackenzie MacPherson Adams Frank and to individual winners in driving and putting events. Jean Mackenzie won the shield on September 21 with Hettle Lawson as runner-up.

Rally Day Observed at Baptist Church Sunday School
Rally Day was held at the Baptist School with large attendance from the school and parents. Baby cradle roll certificates were presented, beginners sang, the primary class recited scripture, and juniors offered recitations. Promotions occurred between classes and new teachers were announced for the boys. The program, directed by Mr. Harry Wood, featured hymn sheets and a talk by Mr. Baxter. The school will meet at 2 pm until spring.

Mrs. Margaret Ann McWhirter Dead at 67 in Georgetown
Georgetown mourns the death of Margaret Ann McWhirter at her King Street home on Wednesday September 25 in her 68th year. Eldest daughter of the late William and Margaret Forgrave, she lived in Georgetown most of her life and was active in Knox Presbyterian Church Verdun Rebekah Lodge and Women’s Institute. She leaves husband Edward and two daughters Gladys Fergusson Hamilton and Opel Reynolds Port Arthur, plus a grandson and several siblings and sisters. Funeral was held Friday at her residence with burial at Greenwood Cemetery attended by clergy and pallbearers and many floral tributes.
