Arts and Crafts Exhibition Delights Georgetown Visitors

The Georgetown Arts and Crafts exhibition on November 24 and 25 drew local crowds and out of town guests, including Torontos Spinners and Weavers members Mrs Wright and Mrs Lois Brown and Canadian Handicraft Guild official Mr J A Carroll. Carroll praised the variety and quality, shell craft gaining particular note, and president Mrs Moyer was lauded for vision that spurred growing interest in Georgetown handicrafts.

Gar C E Stapleton Wed in England

An August 2 wedding in Shepherdsdell Kent united Miss Joan Geraldine Terese Goldworthy and Gar Charles Edward Stapleton, son of Mr and Mrs H Stapleton of Norval. The bride wore a white satin fringe gown with orange blossoms and red rose bouquet, attended by two bridesmaids and a Canadian groomsman, Dave Jones of Toronto.

Mrs W Huggins Dies After Prolonged Illness

After five weeks of serious illness Mrs. William Huggins died at her home on Guelph Street on Thursday morning November 23. Born in England 67 years ago she immigrated to Canada in 1911 and lived in Georgetown since 1914. Survived by her husband six daughters one son nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral held Saturday from Mrs T Warnes’s home to St George’s Anglican Church with Archdeacon Thompson officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were her son and three sons in law. Dignitaries and out of town friends attended including Mr and Mrs Charles Hicks Niagara Falls and others from Milton and Hamilton. Floral tributes noted from families and local groups.

Junior Red Cross Sees Funds From Paper and Basket Drives

The first Junior Red Cross meeting of the term on Friday November 17 heard president Pauline Herrington chair the session. Reports from secretary Joan Buck and treasurer Phyllis Cavanagh were approved. Funds from paper milkweed and basket collections were pledged to Crippled Children's Fund Soldiers Comforts Fund and Prisoners of War Fund.

Daughter of Pioneer Ashgheave Seiler Dies

Olivia Hunter of Esquesing Township near Ahgrove died in Toronto on November 22 at age 86 after a heart attack. Born to John and unknown Hunter ancestors, she lived in the community except for years with sister Mrs. John Walker in Toronto. She belonged to St. Paul’s Church Norval. Funeral Saturday at Washington and Johnson Panera Home Toronto. burial Greenwood Georgetown. District Meeting Reports Fall Fairs Progress in District 5

At Brampton on Saturday the Fall Fairs Association discussed progress in Georgetown and Cooksville fairs and praised Arts and Crafts displays. Supt. J A Carroll urged continued support and noted Ontario Government grants aiding centennial pylons. Delegates from Beeton to Milton and Cooksville attended with talks on cattle, exhibits, and junior work.

Stewart Town Christmas Concert Preparations and Local News

Mr and Mrs Clifford Paul of Milton visited Mrs Hunt. The Little Helpers meeting drew large attendance as children sang Jesus Loves Me and God Sees the Little Sparrows Fall. Eleanor Smith Evalonne Smith and Marjorie Bailey played instrumentals. Mr Cole Brook spoke about mite-boxes raising five dollars. Lunch followed and games were played.
