Holmes, Acton Free Press alumni, have long service at Winnipeg Free Press since 1904 and 1912 respectively.
Erin Courtney Conn the oldest resident of Mono Township died at age 101. He was an Orangeman for four years. Sunday services marked the 48th anniversary of Erin Baptist Church with Rev Humphries and W C Senior of Toronto assisting and choirs from nearby Baptist churches aiding in praise. A local joke notes drivers fail to look a man in the face.
The town mourns John Henry Cole born 1881 Georgetown Ontario died after several weeks illness. A longtime Knight Bros Co staffer and later secretary at Magnetawan Tanning, he returned to Burks Falls and served as a trusted businessman. Survived by widow and four children Jacqueline Nixon Betty and John. Funeral held Tuesday with Masonic and church rites, honors from Knight Bros staff and local lodges.
At the annual meeting of the Young People's Union the three village churches elected Ed Greeneword as president and four vice presidents including John Runnell Prairie Macguire Norman Cameron and Gertrude Laidlaw Miss F Manaswell was named secretary L F Greenwood treasurer Miss Ancie Kay organizer Miss Dell Campbell assistant organizer and Norman Laidlaw Harold Pettigrew and John Tamond as members of the executive committee. Emma McGibbon daughter of the late Judge and Mrs McGibbon of Milton and Brampton married Rev Emmet Maison rector of All Saints Los Angeles in Brampton on Tuesday November 21. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Johnson with Coadjutor Bishop Stevens.
