Downtown fire levelled 1930s Wes leyan Street factory
A one story factory on Wes leyan Street near Georgetown’s main business district burned in a spectacular blaze Tuesday night. The fire damaged nearby Odd Fellows hall and a cottage, with heat harming a double house and garden shed. Losses near 23000 dollars, with extensive damage to the factory, roof, siding, and content. Firefighters faced arcing hydro lines and onlookers hindering efforts. the blaze subsided around 8:35 PM, leaving only a few charred beams. The building had served past as a blacksmith shop and auto-related trades.
