Ontario appoints Lindsay native as new lieutenant governor
Lieutenant Governor appointed for Ontario is 64 year old Mr. Matthews born in Lindsay on May 2. He succeeds the former holder who has not moved into Government House at Chorley Park in Rosedale. The $1 million home of lieutenant governors will be closed. Matthews said he deeply appreciates the honour and will discharge the office’s duties.

Milton's oldest resident Charles Jones dies at 84
Charles Jones, Milton's oldest resident born in 1882, died suddenly at his home on Bronday night after a chat with Stee the lunch waiter. A resident of Milton all his life, he served as deputy returning officer for nearly twenty years and was an enthusiastic Liberal. He is survived by two sons, Bert and Steve Jones, a daughter Mrs J Storey, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
