Water meters debate at council meeting central to costs
Dr. Alfred Sykes told the council water meters are a liability citing $16 per meter plus reading costs and minimal extra sales. Mayor Armstrong supported meters as a future measure to curb waste noting a 30 percent drop in consumption where meters exist. The Maple Avenue roadbed will be sodded at a cost of $275. Dr. Sykes also urged negotiations to acquire additional Elm Street land for future widening due to an encroaching embankment.
