Anglican Sunday School Association Meets in Burlington

The Halton Deanery Sunday School Association held its annual meeting at St. Luke's Parish Burlington. Rev G W Tebbs welcomed attendees and a model lesson was given by Mr Kay. President Holtby urged earnest teaching and a new fund was approved with per-school contributions based on pupil rolls.

Esquesing Township Council Seating and Wartime Council Question

Esquesing Township held its regular meeting on November 4 with Deputy Reeve C H May and councilors Murray Harrop and Ed Harpay. The minutes detail payments for relief, sheep claims, wood and telephones, grants to agricultural societies, insurance renewals, clerical wages, and a tax sale warrant. The meeting also approved a wartime council question under the Local Government Extension Act 1940 and adjourned to December 16.

Religious crank campaigns hit Georgetown homes

Georgetown residents awoke Monday to religious ed tracts titled The End of Naziism. The papers alleged attacks on the Catholic Church, the American Legion and the flag, and hinted Jehovah's Witnesses were involved. J J Gibbons saw a woman leave his house with a tract overnight.

Mrs Hood Dies in California After Writing Life

Walter T Evans reports the death of his sister Mrs Margeert Evans Hood in Claremont California on November 6 1940. A Georgetown High School graduate and noted author and poet she edited Society for the Toronto Daily Star and later wrote for the Victoria Columnist in BC. She leaves three sisters and four brothers with ties to Naramata Sacramento Beulah San Francisco Winnipeg Saskatoon Georgetown and Pomona California.

Pedley Widow Charlotte Ellen Reed Pedley Dead at 81

Mrs. Charlotte Ellen Reed Pedley widow of Rev. James W. Pedley died Tuesday aged 81. Born November 8 in Stewarttown she leaves son Lieut-Col James H. Pedley and grandchildren Dina Charlotte and James William Pedley of Toronto. Funeral held in Toronto. buried in Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown. Pallbearers include six nephews and grandnephews.
