Following a 1.4 point rise in the adjusted cost of living index, the National War Labour Board announced a general order effective with payrolls from November 15, 1943. For adult male workers and others earning $25 weekly or more, the rise is 35 cents. for younger men and women earning under $25, it is 1.4 percent. The maximum weekly bonus now stands at $4.60 or 18.4 percent of wages. The wartime adjustments do not alter the manual workers provision in the construction industry.
