Ladies Bowling Club Banquet Closes 1939 Season
Georgetown Lawn Bowling Club ladies held a banquet at the Baptist Church with 26 attendees and guests. Mrs. Sidney McKenzie presided as president, officers were re elected, prizes awarded for Scotch Doubles and high score, and later members were entertained at Mr. and Mrs. Faram's home with bridge and euchre.

87th Anniversary Celebrated at St George's Church
Capacity congregations and inspiring sermons marked the 87th anniversary. In the morning Rev W G O Thompson delivered an address while Canon Russell Smith of Oakville spoke in the evening. Special music accompanied both services and several members took their first communion at the morning service.

Norval Rifle Club Hosts Mock War On Range
A Canada war display unfolded at the Norval Rifle Range as the North Toronto Submarines engaged the Norval Cruisers in a bloodless two hour battle. Toronto Admiral directed torpedoes sinking the Norval ships while survivors were rescued and cared for at the range.

New Ontario automobile plates for 1940 feature bright yellow panels with black numerals and letters. Numerals will be an inch larger, chosen for maximum visibility, and plates go on sale January 1st 1940 rather than in November as last year. The ruling may change.
