In a class of 23 intermediate twirlers, the student daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Danichuk performed strongly, with the All Star Twirling Club of the National Twirling Association listed as sponsor.

Esquesing Buys New Fire Truck for Georgetown
Esquesing council accepted a tender from Co. F Hickey Company for a new Ford fire truck to replace the 1953 model used by Georgetown station on Chapel Street East. The $27,750 bid was the lowest of four. delivery expected just over two months. If the old truck is kept, space constraints at the fire hall could arise and it will not be sold as a fire vehicle due to age rules.

Pilot Killed in Newfoundland Crash Near Labrador City
Jack McLeod recently moved from Georgetown to Montreal and was among eight men killed in a Newfoundland air crash yesterday. He was piloting a Brinco plane carrying Brinco officials to Labrador City, one of the firm’s properties.

Georgetown traffic crashes damage police report
A series of weekend crashes around Georgetown left drivers with bruises cuts and property damage. Ronald Wayne King of 16 Churchill Crescent was treated for bruised ribs and a bruised left hip after a single car collision that knocked out hydro service. the car hit a tree and a hydro pole on Charles Street near Princess Anne Drive. Teenagers Mark Daley and Jim Neil were treated for head injuries and chest abrasions after their car plunged off a bank on Main Street. In a separate head on crash west of Stewart two men were injured and passenger Ogene Zylstra sustained minor injuries along with driver John Ellison. A third incident on Highway 7 injured David Cook and passenger David Carroll when a car left the road and hit a ditch.

Santa Parade shifts candy distribution along route
Santa Claus will not stop downtown for the parade on December 6. Helpers with the sleigh will distribute candy along the route to reach children who could not reach downtown. The change aims to reduce congestion and trampling as older children push forward. Many floats have entered. organizers welcome more, especially from new industry.
