Ashgrove Church Marks Eightieth Anniversary Celebration
Ashgrove United Church observed its eightieth anniversary on Sunday November 11 with morning and evening services led by Rev. F. C. Totton and a guest address by Rev. Dr. A. S. Orton of Emmanuel College Toronto. The history spans from 1860 as a Methodist New Connexion church to its current status on the Hornby charge with significant building updates in 1935 and a long running Sunday school.

November Institute Meeting Sets Winter Social Tie Plans
Members decided to hold several party ties through winter and formed four groups to oversee Mr. Whitelock. Agricultural representative Whitelock gave a talk on wartime effects on crops and local conditions. The meeting closed with thanks to Whitelock and Mrs. Bell and a singing of God Save the King.

Bird lecturer draws large Ontario audience

The funeral of Harvey Edwin McDonald proprietor of Tilden Lake Camp, North Bay, was held Tuesday afternoon November 12 from his sister Mrs Harold Cleave's home in Georgetown. He had suffered ill health for two years and is survived by his wife Helena Stout, three daughters, and three sisters. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown with pallbearers J J Gibbons Ray Kercher Everett Cole.

Mrs. E. Colman celebrated her 700s birthday last Wednesday November 6 at her home in town. Born in Torkee England she moved to Canada at age ten and settled in Toronto. Nine years later she married the late Edward Colman.

Remembrance Day Service Honours Georgetown War Dead
Rain and wind kept many on Mill Street as Branch 120 Canadian Legion Lorne Scots and Civil Guard members gathered to march to the War Memorial for Remembrance Day. The service, led by Major J R Barber and Col Ballantine, included an Honour Roll of 24 names, Last Post, two minutes of silence, and the National Anthem.

Ferry Brothers Father Dies in England
Word reached from England of the death of Robert Ferry at seventy two in Sunderland Durham County on October 21. He was father to Harry and George Perry of Georget and to other children. Harry Ferry is serving overseas with the Lome Scots and attended the funeral during leave. The family also includes a wife three daughters and another son in England and two sons in Canada.
