Local Girl Joins the Canadian Women’s Auxiliary Air Force
Miss Margaret Long left last weekend for Toronto to join the C W A A F the Canadian Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. She is the district’s first female enlistee in this new branch and is training in cooking dietetics in Toronto before heading to Guelph for further training. Born in Georgetown she is the daughter of Mr and Mrs W H Long and was a Wool Convenor with the Courts of Strathmore Chapter LO DE. prior to departure the LO DE presented her with a leather writing case for her service.

The Georgetown Women's Institute held its November meeting at Mrs. M L Nears home with Mrs D Livingstone chairing in her absence. Seamen Whitfield and Family Visit In Town
Able Seaman O Whitfield and his wife Phyllis Davies of London are visiting with his sister in Norval, after a month’s leave. He served on HMCS Saguenay and survived torpedo damage while Atlantic convoy duty with the Royal Canadian Navy. His brother-in-law John Durkop, V N, also visits from Naval Headquarters in Toronto.
