Remembrance Service at Georgetown United Church
A service honoring World War I and II sacrifices was held at Georgetown United Church with choir led by Miss Lynda Stewart singing Rest Valiant Hearts and Albert Tost performing There is No Death. Rev John M. Smith preached on memory and peace, followed by an evening sermon on My Church by Rev Fred Ainsworth. Flowers recalled Mrs S Campbell. Next Sunday Rev A E Armstrong will assist and deliver the message.

Arthur Ashmore Dies At Toronto Home
Arthur Ashmore died of a heart attack at his Toronto home after suffering a stroke earlier. He was a former Georgetown resident who moved to Toronto years ago and worked at a provincial counting office. Survived by his wife Margaret McArthur a daughter Evelyn and three grandchildren. Funeral service led by Rev William Whitcomb was held at McDouall and Brown chapel with interment at St John’s Cemetery Norway.

The Esquesing Township community hall at Stewarttown opened last Wednesday evening with speakers including J A Carroll and Reeve George Cleave. The new one story brick building houses a public hall with stage, dressing rooms, council chamber, kitchen, toilets, and a storage shed for machinery. Cost about $20 000 with government department contributions. a parking lot will be added on the adjacent lot.
