Town Council Actions Set for December 9 Elections and Local Plans
On Monday November council appointed election officials and polling places for the December 9 elections and handed duties to the Recreational Council for fundraising. They designated a no-parking zone on the north-west side of Wesleyan Street and appointed J Ar nott Early as town assessor. They granted $235 to the Poppy Fund, planned the Remembrance service, and discussed painting angle parking along several streets. The council agreed to purchase winter coats for police for the Arena booth and asked Parks Board to meet next week to discuss concessions. They turned over the wedding pool property to the Recreational Council if the Local Council of Women wished, received a hearing notice from the Railway Commissioners on widening the John Street subway, and approved a waterworks map for next year’s council. They planned to convert Wartime Housing property street into a boulevard to reduce hydro costs, and will address lack of sidewalk in front of the Mackenzie Building before cold weather.
