October Weather Summary Shows Mild Nights and Higher Rainfall
The author notes October's mean maximum 56.7 and mean minimum 40.7, 3.5 degrees above normal, with unusually mild nights and little frost. Herald Funds Grow as Community Seeks Aid
Strong support continues for the Herald funds the B W V and Soldiers Comforts Funds. A War Victims’ Fund draw yielded 87.15 from the Tennant family with ticket 482 won by Joen Latimer. The Soldiers’ Comforts Fund rose to 151 53 after a 807 donation from St George’s Church of England Sunday School pupils. Tickets for an electric broiler prize are on sale at the Herald office with the draw set for November 29 1941. The Georgetown Herald notes thanks from Lorne Scots Band for Hallowe’en Frolic support with several local groups aiding the event and hopes for an annual event.

Georgetown Lions Club Plans Christmas Tree and War Aid Drive
The Georgetown Lions Club met at the United Church then adjourned to Georgetown Lumber Co. They approved funds from Salvage for Victory for the War Weapons Drive to stamp pupils' books and funded additional donations to the Poppy Fund Red Cross and Halloween events. They organizers announced the December 20 Christmas Tree with Lome Scots Band. Lions T Elson and C Burnside lead ticket sales.

Accidental Shooting Fatal to Local Visitor Child
A 2 year old, Donald Clitheroe, died from a gunshot wound after a playmate’s 22 rifle discharged during a pretend hold up. The incident occurred as relatives arrived to visit Mrs Garnet Clitheroe in Grafton. An inquest will be held this week.

United Church Anniversary Services Filled Georgetown Church
Full houses marked the United Church anniversary events last Sunday with Rev R C Todd presiding over two services on The Fountain of Freedom and Room for Jesus. Monday supper drew well over 200, Lions Club members at a reserved table, and Rev Dr Archer Wallace spoke on Britain Day with a slide show of England Scotland and bombed London. Mrs Francis Thompson sang solo and God Save the King closed the programme.
