Four Departments Fight Friday Fire at Mushroom Plant
A large fire of unknown origin destroyed a mushroom growing complex in Meadowaglen's northern town limits Friday night, with losses estimated over 60,000. Firefighters from four Halton communities battled the flames for hours, protecting neighboring Smith & Stone plant and nearby homes from falling embers. Garth Wright earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Western Ontario on May day. He is the son of Mr and Mrs James Wright of 65 Edward Street Georgetown, previously residents two years, and completed his studies at St Andrew's College Aurora before finishing at Alsonquin Composite School North Bay. A Georgetown man Glen Gerald Wright 20 of 7 William Street Georgetown died Saturday on Highway 103 fifteen miles north of Midland. Police believe he may have fallen asleep at the wheel causing his car to cross the center line and collide with a transport truck driven by Gerhard Monvar of Rexdale who was unhurt. Wright was a son husband and father with six brothers and a sister. Funeral services were at Harold McClure Funeral Home and interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
