Five Municipalities May Share Plumbing Inspector
Dr. Sandy Mackenzie told council that Acton Milton Esquesing Nassagawega Georgetown could join a joint plumbing inspection service run by the Halton County Health Unit. The Health Unit plans to discontinue all inspections this September, unless the five northern municipalities each send letters backing a self sustaining regional service to save costs.

Police Contract Grants 15 Percent Pay Raise in Georgetown
Georgetown Police Association released details of a two year wage contract signed April 19 with the Georgetown Police Commission. The new annual salaries include 9545 for sergeants 8740 for patrol sergeants 7933 for first class constables 7590 for second class constables 7015 for third class constables and 6555 for probationary constables. The chief constable and cadet salaries are not negotiated. The 15 percent increase covers all but top posts and retroacts to January 1. The negotiating team included Sergeant George South and constables John Barratt and Jack Poot. The department under Chief Harley Lowe comprises four sergeants ten constables and a cadet.

Psychiatric Remand After Murder Charge
Philip White aged 18 of 6 Joseph Street was committed to Penetanguishene psychiatric hospital for two months exam after appearing in county court charged with the murder of his father Robert White. White died in Toronto General Hospital nineteen days after being shot in the abdomen at home with a .22 rifle. He worked at the Ford plant in Brampton and belonged to the Kinsmen club. A private funeral was held at St Georges Anglican Church conducted by Rev. Eric Mills. He leaves a wife Pamela Ann Thomsett, his mother Mrs. R. White of Surrey England, and sisters Mrs. Gwen Smith and Mrs. Edith Frostone of England.

Milk Snakes Mistaken for Rattlers in Limehouse Killings
Authorities and researchers conclude the three snakes killed near Limehouse were Eastern Milk Snakes, not Massassauga Rattlers. Halton County Medical Officer of Health and University of Guelph Professor Karstad say milk snakes mimic rattlers by tail vibrating, a factor in the misidentification.
