Mrs. Harry Williams aged 62 was buried in Greenwood Cemetery after a funeral at McClure Funeral Home. Born Harriett Arnold in Thurso Quebec she was the widow of a railwayman killed in a 37 year old accident, and she survived by son Robert Williams and brother James Arnold of Vancouver. Reverend Alex J. Calder led the service with pallbearers Richard Packer William Ritchie Bill Hinson Jack Davidson Andy Ritchie and Lorne Cross.

GHS Track Team Shines at Guelph Play Day
Guelph Play Day saw Dianne Harrison claim intermediate girls running broad jump and second in the 75 yard dash while Neretta Zilio led senior girls with multiple firsts and a third in softball throw. The senior girls relay won the cup with Harrison Oates Zilio and Darou on the team. Paul Barber starred for the senior boys, winning the half mile and placing third in the quarter mile. Terry Noron took second in senior boys high jump and Leanne Darou won intermediate 75 yd. Betty Ann Henderson was runner-up in intermediate high jump. Two graduates of Georgetown High School will receive engineering degrees at the University of Toronto next month. Longtime Papermill Worker Joseph Hilts Dies at 67
Joseph Henry Hilts 67 died in Guelph General Hospital after a 33 year tenure at the old Provincial Paper lower mill, retiring when the plant closed in 1948. Born in Balf-nafad, he lived in Georgetown since 1918, was a United Church member, life member of the Georgetown Fire Brigade, and Provincial Quarter Century Club. Surviving are his wife Eisie McMaster and nine children, with two sons predeceased. 31 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral held at McClure Funeral Home with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery Norval.

Honour Fred Armstrong Fifty Years As Orangeman
Georgetown lodge honoured Fred Armstrong for fifty years with a veteran's jewel and framed certificate at a special Oddfellows Hall meeting. True Blues guests attended as David Bowman arranged the event. Ernie Rawson awarded the certificate while Fred McNally presented the jewel. Armstrong is believed to be the only Orangeman in the county to hold this honour. Cards and dancing followed the presentation.
