Peter Hughes Elected New Jaycees President in Georgetown
Peter Hughes of Braeside Farms Norval was elected president of Georgetown Jaycees at the annual officers election on April 29. He succeeds past president David Kenter. first vice president is Sam Fones, second vice president Steve Hutchison, secretary John Faiers, treasurer Bill Woychesko, and directors Bill Sykes and Rex Heslop Jr. The retiring president received the Bill Tinkaluk Trophy at the District Five conference in Brampton. District includes 15 Jaycees units with over 100 attendees. Gary Cummins of Brampton was elected district president, defeating Georgetown Jaycee Doug Fishburn.

The class covered Ontario local government, finances, planning, and council procedures with 105 enrolled, plus Hazel McCallion addressing the group. Palmer urged candidates to attend. The Georgetown Market safety check found only 13 of 129 cars faultless on first inspection. Police figures show 101 rejected, 15 from other departments rechecked and passed. Georgetown Boy Injured in Crash
A Georgetown boy was hospitalized with possible concussions after a two car collision at Highway 122 and Ninth Line in Oakville on Sunday afternoon. The four year old son of Norman Fegan was admitted to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. The Fegan family, and their daughter, sustained bruises but did not require hospitalization. the truck was driven by Vice Mandarle of Oakville.

Father Shot by Son Leads to Wounding Charge
A Georgetown man is in fair condition at Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital after a Sunday shooting in their home. His 18 year old son was charged with wounding, remanded to July 16, and posted bail of $1000 cash or $2000 property. The shot used a .22 rifle and Sunday night surgery failed to remove the bullet. Chief Inspector McBryde of the Ontario Provincial Police leads the investigation.

Council Briefs Aid Parks Plan and Vehicle Purchase
Council approved a $5,000 cheque for the Board of Parks Management and a 1967 van purchase for the engineering department at $1,600. They also authorized funding for the Georgetown Baseball Association at $1,000, hired K. Cave as engineering technician at $5,650 yearly, and referred a lot purchase offer from Red-I-Mix Concrete to the property chairman. The Girls Softball League received permission for a June tag day to raise funds to stay in operation.
